The Green Meadows neighborhood in the Town of Southwest Ranches experiences frequent, extreme flooding. Sidewalks in this neighborhood can become so inundated that students are forced to walk on dangerous, congested streets on their way to Hawks Bluff Elementary. HB 2169, Green Meadows along SW 164th Terrace Drainage Improvements, intends to design an underground piped storm water conveyance system that will connect the swales and low-lying areas that run along residences with the South Broward Drainage District's canal and catch basins.

SW 63rd Street frequently floods during heavy storms and flooding because the existing storm water drainage infrastructure is not designed to handle heavy rain. This street serves as a major artery for emergency vehicles. If this street is flooded during hurricanes, emergency vehicles are not able to travel into areas of need. HB 2171, Southwest Ranches SW 63rd Street and SW 185th Way Drainage Improvement, intends to install an underground pipe system, a headwall, and catch basin to manage the storm water and keep streets clear for traffic.

During severe storms, storm water runoff floods Dykes Road and requires temporary roadway closures. Emergency vehicles turning from SW 160th Avenue are unable to merge onto Dykes Road during a major flooding episode and provide needed assistance. HB 2173, Southwest Ranches SW 54th Place Drainage Extension to Ivanhoe Canal, intends to create a drainage system with underground piping and drainage inlets which ultimately tie into Ivanhoe Canal. This will alleviate flooding on Dykes Road so that emergency vehicles can move through, traffic can continue to flow, and pedestrians can properly use the sidewalks.

The South Broward Drainage District S2, S3, and S7 sluice gate project will provide an increase in the flood protection level of service for over 120,000 residents across Miramar and Pembroke Pines.

This will allow the South Broward Drainage District to lower water levels more efficiently before heavy rainfall, creating additional storage capacity and improving flood protection.

The Rolling Oaks neighborhood is a one-way-in, one-way-out residential community. Due to its low-lying terrain, the neighborhood is particularly vulnerable to flooding during heavy rainfall events.

Children's Harbor is more than just a group home — it's a place of healing for children and teens who have survived serious trauma like abuse, neglect, or abandonment.

Florida is home to an estimated 472,000 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). 75% of them live with a family caregiver, and 31% of those caregivers are over the age of 60. As caregivers age, their ability to provide 24/7 support diminishes, which leaves adults with IDD vulnerable to institutionalization or homelessness. This assisted living facility for adults with IDD would provide them with access to social and vocational programs and would use smart technologies for communication, monitoring, and emergency response. Overall, the project aims to reduce isolation, promote inclusion, and improve quality of life.
