Drainage Improvements

Southwest Ranches Green Meadows Drainage Improvements along SW 164th Terrace — $793,166

The Green Meadows neighborhood in the Town of Southwest Ranches experiences frequent, extreme flooding. Sidewalks in this neighborhood can become so inundated that students are forced to walk on dangerous, congested streets on their way to Hawks Bluff Elementary. HB 2169, Green Meadows along SW 164th Terrace Drainage Improvements, intends to design an underground piped storm water conveyance system that will connect the swales and low-lying areas that run along residences with the South Broward Drainage District's canal and catch basins.

Southwest Ranches SW 63rd Street and SW 185th Way Drainage Improvement — $479,306

SW 63rd Street frequently floods during heavy storms and flooding because the existing storm water drainage infrastructure is not designed to handle heavy rain. This street serves as a major artery for emergency vehicles. If this street is flooded during hurricanes, emergency vehicles are not able to travel into areas of need. HB 2171, Southwest Ranches SW 63rd Street and SW 185th Way Drainage Improvement, intends to install an underground pipe system, a headwall, and catch basin to manage the storm water and keep streets clear for traffic.

Robin secured almost $1 million for a new pump station in Pembroke Pines to help alleviate flooding and brought home dollars to purchase mobile storm water pumps to be used by the South Broward Drainage District in flooding emergencies. $2,000,000 to reevaluate and study South Florida’s aging Flood System for future improvements A combined $1,671,894 for 3 Southwest Ranches Drainage Improvement Projects.
